How do I perfectly align FOSTER perimeter barriers?
Foster barriers are already pre-aligned by the manufacturer. For perfect alignment, see the “User and installation manual” supplied by MITECH® (see page 11/13 – Instrument alignment).

How so I know whether the perimeter barrier was correctly aligned?
A correctly aligned barrier signals an alignment value of approximately 4 Volt, (over 4 Volt the voltage values are to be considered optimal). It is important to ensure all the red LEDs on the RX optics electronics are switched off. In the event of some or all of the LEDs being on, direct the TX optics until they switch off.

What should I do in the event of fog?
In fog, turn the signal-low bridge to ON; the barrier will automatically turn off in thick fog. An acoustic signal can also be enabled for this purpose on the unit.

What additional perimeter barrier settings do pet owners require?
Turn the AND jumper on the RX mother board to ON.

How many perimeter barrier pairs do I need to protect all four sides?
Four pairs of perimeter barriers are required for 4-sided protection. Please remember that optics cannot be aimed at the two different barriers to create a corner.

What should I do if the perimeter barrier does not work?
In the event the barrier does not work, make sure all connections and settings are correct.

What should I do if the barrier sends false alarms?
Make sure it is correctly aligned. Make sure power voltage is stable, never under 12V. Start the AND function if barriers are installed in an open field. Start the disqualification function if installed in foggy areas. Make sure there are no interferences due to photocells (automatic gates) or microwave sensors.

What should I tell end users who want to self-install their security system?
Security device reliability is also due to the quality of the installation for which a warranty is supplied. Therefore, relying on specialised installation technicians is best.

Do frost and dew jeopardise good barrier operations?
Frost and dew are two treacherous enemies. However, MITECH® has found a way to prevent this hazard by installing an automatic thermostat in Foster barriers which automatically turns on in adverse weather conditions. Response in Italian.

What type of power do FOSTER perimeter barriers need?
12 VDC power is required and, separately 24 V AC power for the thermostat.
